tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9927033999617504962024-02-20T04:19:34.969-08:00Fedora 9 on Dell Vostro 1310Szalnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00910578423832034225noreply@blogger.comBlogger2125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-992703399961750496.post-58636001098786940092009-08-03T16:12:00.000-07:002009-08-03T16:14:45.471-07:00My new blog at <a href="http://enedenorte.wordpress.com">http://enedenorte.wordpress.com</a>Szalnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00910578423832034225noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-992703399961750496.post-56332310475797394372008-05-24T09:30:00.000-07:002008-05-24T09:38:36.461-07:00Hello,<br /><br />Althought I am Spanish, i will edit this in English for help more users.<br /><br />Recently I bought one Dell Vostro 1310 Laptop.<br />Unfortunately this brand does not ship these machines without a Window$ licence, but because I paid it, just kept the recovery CD handy if something bad happens.<br />If you do not want dual boot, you can erase all partitions except the first "vfat", which is Dell Diagnostics.<br /><br />Here are the main specs:<br />Vostro 1310 - Intel Core 2 Duo T5870 2.0Ghz<br />Display : 13.3" WXGA 1280x800<br />Integrated 1.3MP Webcam (SONiX)<br />Memory : 2x1024MB DDR2 667Mhz Dual Channel<br />Graphics: Intel GMA X3100<br />Wireless: Intel Pro Wireless 3945<br />Sound: Intel ICH8 with ALC268 chipset.<br />Integrated Memory Card Reader.<br />PC Card slot.<br /><br />When I installed the new release of Fedora 9 Sulphur, ALL worked Out of the Box, except a little adjustment for the souncard.<br />The audio exit and volume controls works well with snd_hda_intel driver for PulseAudio, but it doesn't for the Mic.<br />At this time I can't make the internal microphone work, so any help will be appreciated with this issue.<br />But this problem can be solved if you use a headphone with external mic and do the following.<br /><blockquote><br />$ su -c 'nano /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf.dist'</blockquote><br /><br />Add this line at the end of the file:<br /><br /><blockquote>options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=dell</blockquote><br /><br />Save it, and reboot. Now you can play with sound controls and enjoy the mic input.<br />Remember to activate "Input source - Mic" "Capture 1", and "Mic Boost".<br />Hope this helps to new Dell Vostro users.Szalnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00910578423832034225noreply@blogger.com1
